Happy Monday! One of my favorite things about a Spring is “Spring cleaning” my makeup. I love to get rid of the things that I haven’t used, stock up on my favorites, and try some new products. When it comes to beauty products, I rarely make a purchase based on store reviews. I make most of my decisions based on what my friends recommend and love. I’m no makeup artist, but I am so excited to show you some of my favorite products that I can’t live without. Leave a comment to let me know what beauty product you can’t live without. I would love to try it out!
The Shimmer Brick is the perfect way to add a little glow to your complexion. I use the ‘Bronze Shimmer‘ on my cheeks to finish off my makeup. The Shimmer Brick is one of those products that lasts such a long time. When I am in a hurry and don’t have time to apply my full makeup, the Shimmer Brick always a go-to. Sometimes I even use the colors as eye shadow. Next on my list to try is the ‘Pink Quartz‘ which is more of a soft pink glow.
Orgasm is the perfect color blush and works for just about every shade of skin. Aside from the amazing color, the blush lasts all day which is a major plus. Nars Orgasm converted me into a huge fan of blush. You will find me wearing Nars Orgasm blush in all of my photoshoots for the blog.
3. Beauty Blender & Makeup Sponge Cleaner
It took me a really long time to purchase the beauty blender. I felt like it was so unreasonable to buy a $20 sponge. I finally gave in and regretted waiting so long! The Beauty Blender is a great way to achieve an airbrushed look with your concealer, primer, foundation, or any other complexion product. To use the Beauty Blender, all you have to do is wet the sponge and apply your makeup. Some people don’t realize that you should wet the sponge, but it makes all the difference! I have tried knock offs of the beauty blender and they just aren’t the same. My one recommendation is to purchase the sponge cleanser as well. The cleanser lasts an extremely long time, but without it your sponge will get dried out making it hard to achieve the airbrushed look. To use the cleanser you wet the sponge, rub it onto the bar of soap, lather and rinse.
I’m sure by now you’ve had a chance to smell this amazing perfume. Flowerbomb combines the scents of bergamot, tea, freesia, jasmine, orange blossom, orchid, rose, and patchouli, and smells oh so delicious.
5. Lip Scrub
One of the most annoying things is when I apply lipstick and a few minutes later my lips are dry and the lipstick doesn’t look nearly as good anymore. Lip Scrub is a serious lip saver. They exfoliate and condition your lips and usually taste pretty good too! To be honest, I don’t think you can go wrong with any lip scrub. I have tried the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish and loved it.
I have tried a lot of different brands of lipstick. Raise your hand if MAC dries out your lips in seconds?! This is why I love NARS lipstick. It is long wearing, nourishing, and non drying. You will find me wearing NARS Schiap ALL the time. It is such a pretty and vibrant color. NARS has a wide range of subtle to vibrant colors and I wish I could buy them all!
7. Hourglass Cosmetics Immaculate Foundation
I don’t even know where to start with this foundation. All I can say is you HAVE to try it! I use the ‘Nude’ color. The hidden corrective concealer and primer work great with this foundation as well. I have been using Hourglass Immaculate Foundation for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it. It is a liquid to powder foundation and has a long lasting velvet-matte type of look to it. It is very natural looking and never looks caked on. I’ve found that most liquid foundations look very oily, however this one doesn’t look that way at all and doesn’t require powder on top. It actually says that sponge applicator is not recommended, but sometimes I use my beauty blender and it looks great!
8. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Products
I never realized the difference filling in your brows makes until two years ago in San Francisco when I had an Anastasia rep do my brows for me. I was instantly sold on the Anastasia Brow Kit. It is the perfect starter kit and comes with the perfect brow brush, powder, stencils to get the perfect brow shape, and a highlighter for the brow bone. It is $39.50 and worth every penny! My latest Anastasia obsession is the Dipbrow Pomade in soft brown. It is a creamy formula rather than the powder that is in the kit. I use small strokes with the duo brush for an extremely natural look.
9. Studio Sculpt Superblack Lash
I recently discovered this mascara and love it for my lower lashes. It doesn’t clump at all which is great, I originally bought it for my top lashes but it doesn’t have the thickness I prefer. I love love love it for the lower lashes because it is smooth and natural looking. Nothing is worse than thick clumpy spider lashes.
10. MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish
I’ve been using this for a few years now and have never turned back. I sweep this with a makeup brush at the very top of my cheek bones up in between the corner of my eye and my hair line. It is the perfect touch to highlight those cheek bones. I also double up this product on the inner corner of my lids.
11. Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Eyeshadow and Liner
My new favorite thing to do is to apply regular eye liner and then apply this over it. Doing this smudges the eye liner and creates more of a soft look rather than a harsh line under the eye. It really does last 24 hours and every single color is so pretty! One of my makeup artist friends at Nordstrom taught me this trick and it’s so fun!
12. Lash Domination Mascara by bareMinerals
This mascara is so great! It goes on perfectly and doesn’t create clumps. It is smudge resistant and doesn’t flake, which is my number one mascara pet peeve. Has anyone else tried 3D Fiber mascara and had flakes EVERYWHERE under the brows and under the eyes!? It drives me crazy and isn’t a good look. I rarely stick to one mascara and usually have a few different kinds on hand. This is the first mascara I actually went through 4 tubes of! I linked to a special limited edition set that comes with a free mini mascara to carry in your purse.
I hope you all have enjoyed my beauty round up! If you have any questions about the products I use please leave a comment below, and don’t forget to comment with some of your beauty faves!
Oh I have been wanting to try the Trish eye shadow sticks and will have to try the trick your friend taught you. Recommend any particular colors?
