I love a good family themed Halloween costume!
After our Grease Halloween costumes last year I had no idea what our theme would be this year! We decided to move into the next decade and be hippies! Since Halloween is just around the corner I thought it would be the perfect time to share details on this fun hippie Halloween theme. It was so fun to put these DIY hippie costume ideas into action. We pieced together things we already owned, items from Ebay, and purchased a few other items to pull together the looks along the way.
DIY Hippie Costume Ideas
Our photographer Bethany nailed it on choosing this location and of course on the amazing pictures. Michael was very much into character and it was hilarious to watch. He was loving every second of these pictures. 
I’ve always wanted to see what I looked like as a blonde, so the moment I found this wig + flower crown combination I knew I had to try it out. It was so fun to be blonde for an hour and I didn’t look as scary as I thought I would.

To be honest I bought a few different options because I had so many DIY hippie costume ideas for everyone and then we just kind of pieced things together. We had a lot of extras at the end, but that’s what return policies are for!

I really wanted Paige to wear bell bottoms. They had so many fun options, but they all ended up being too long on her. I love the sunflowers on this set, and it’s a set that she can get use of after halloween too.

Michael’s was probably the hardest to put together. I didn’t love the pants that I ordered him so we ended up adding a lot of accessories to give I’m those hippie vibes we were looking for.
