Creating Special Moments with Children
It’s interesting comparing baby number one to baby number two. Before Paige was born, Michael and I spent all day, every day together. It was just the two of us, and I always stressed about how Michael would feel when he had a sibling. I cried so much during my pregnancy, worrying that our bonding time wouldn’t be the same, and it broke my heart thinking about how his little mind would comprehend all of the change.
Flash forward 18 months, and I’ve made such a big effort to make sure we still have our special one-on-one moments together. Of course, he loves being a big brother and always having a friend to play with. Now that he is in preschool, I feel like I am having flashbacks of Michael and I during the time that Paige is the only one home with me. Paige and I run errands together, eat together, and have some quality bonding time when he is at school.
One thing that Paige and I have in common is our love for food! The girl will eat any time of day, and food makes her so happy! I always pack snacks with me wherever we are headed, and NEW Gerber® Lil’ Mixers™ at Walmart are such a fun option. Lil’ crisp? Lotta Crisp? Add texture your way, and trust me when I say Paige likes to boss me around—so she lets me know what she wants!
Gerber Lil’ Mixers come in 8 different flavor combinations that are inspired by homemade tastes. It’s so easy to prepare, and my favorite part is that there is nutrition in every bite. What’s also great is I can add as little or as much texture as I want, too! You can grab yours at Walmart and use this Ibotta offer to save! I love that we have a neighborhood Walmart near our house for quick runs to stock up on baby food.
Aside from the usual everyday instances, I also try to plan special out-of-the-norm-things that will excite the kids. For example, going to a candy store, letting them each pick out a special new toy on rare occasions, going to a special park, play dates, or seasonal events such as pumpkin patches and fairs, etc. I want to make sure my kids find join in the little things and truly appreciate when we do something out of routine.
Creating special moments with my kids can be so simple, and it honestly makes me just as happy as it makes them. A simple snack, screen-free moments, saying yes to one of their crazy ideas, or setting aside time in the day to forget about your lists and schedule can help facilitate some of the greatest memories when we look back on motherhood. I’ll be honest that I’m not always perfect at this but when I am, it fills my heart and lifts mentality—even at my most exhausted and drained times.
Don’t forget to stop by your nearest Walmart to try the new Gerber Lil Mixers!
Here’s to creating special moments with children more often!
