One of the most frequently asked questions that I have been receiving lately is if I have tried the Willow Pump! Well, the answer is yes, and I have so much to say about it! I have had my Willow Pump for about one month now, and wanted to make sure I gave it a thorough testing before I reported back to everyone. To be honest, I have always sort of despised pumping so I was really interested to try it out and give you a full and honest Willow Pump Review.
Willow Pump Review: Why and When I Pump
As most of you know, I work from home now, so you may be wondering why I would even need to pump. I typically pump when I know that I will be gone from my baby during a feeding time. (Girls nights, meetings, events, etc.) I like to have my babies on a pretty strict feeding schedule, which is very helpful in knowing how much milk they will need when I am gone. I like to freeze the milk for any circumstances where a bottle might be easier, like road trips for example. Lastly, I pump to make sure that I don’t get mastitis ever again! Oh my goodness, I had it for the first time about a month ago and it was horrendous. It’s safe to say that I use a pump pretty often even though I said adios to my day job.
Willow Pump Review: What is it and is it Worth it?
So what is the Willow Pump? It is a hands free pump with no external tubes. You can literally stick them in your bra and pump while you get stuff done! Everyone’s experience is unique. For me, this is a GAME CHANGER if I’ve ever seen one. A typical pumping experience with my old pump included cords everywhere, precious time wasted, staying close to the counter where the pump was plugged in at, and both of my hands holding up bottles which were attached to a very loud machine. If I was pumping, you would be able to hear it from every room in the house.
When the lovely ladies at Willow Pump sent me a Willow Pump, they suggested using it 7 days in a row to really get the hang of it. They were so right. After a week of use, I felt very confident in using it. There are how-to videos on their site to help you along the way, along with an awesome app that tracks how much milk you are pumping in real time. The how-to videos were perfect! I’m not one for reading manuals. If I’m being honest, It did take me a few tries to feel like I had it down.
Another frequently asked question I have been receiving: “Is the willow pump worth it?” My answer is yes! I absolutely love it.
Willow Pump Review: Things to Keep in Mind
One thing to keep in mind is that you need to wear the right bra in order to use the Willow Pump. I like to use a tight and stretchy nursing bra or nursing tank. (In the photos where I am wearing the Willow Pump, I am wearing a nursing tank!) This is very very very important to keep in mind. I don’t suggest using a bra with underwire. If the pump isn’t pressed firmly against you, you will not be able to maintain a suction.
There are so many amazing points to bring up about the Willow Pump, including the fact that the milk is pumped straight into a bag when you are pumping. No pouring milk into storage bags anymore! They literally thought of every inconvenience of a standard breast pump and figured out a solution to all of them!
I can’t begin to describe how much of an inconvenience my old pump was, but I’m sure you understand if you’ve ever pumped before! I love that with Willow, I don’t have to stop what I’m doing for 15-20 minutes. Once I have properly latched and started Willow, I can continue on with my day. Multitasking at it’s finest. Pumping while checking emails, doing my hair or makeup, or even getting the kids ready is a reality that I never thought would exist!
The sound is much more discreet than a typical pump. A few people have asked me if I think they could wear their pump during meetings at work. Although the sound is muted big time, there is still a discreet sound that would be heard if you were having a face to face conversation with someone. It is very, very subtle and quiet.
Another point worth mentioning in this Willow Pump review, is that I was shocked at how easy it was to clean!
All in all, I say this is a total mom win.
Thank you Willow Pump for sponsoring this post and making my mornings as a mom go a little bit smoother! As usual, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Willow sounds amazing for sure! Babies look adorable!!
