I hope you all had an amazing weekend! Ours was exhausting to say the least. Why? Well… we’ve been keeping a little secret! I actually meant to post this yesterday, but things have been pretty crazy around here the last few weeks. I don’t even know where to begin because I didn’t want to announce it and “jinx” myself. 😉 Now that it’s finally happening I feel safe to share… we’re moving!
We’ve been casually home shopping for the past year. We weren’t in a rush to move, but we knew if we found the right house then we would jump on it. We love our home so much, but we were starting to max out on space and eventually wanted to move into a forever home for our kids to grow up in. About a month ago we found one that we really loved. We had been looking mainly in the northwest side of Vegas, fairly close to wear we currently live.
We decided to put in a contingent offer on the home, and after a little bit of negotiating they accepted it! The kicker was that we had 3 days to list our home and 4 days after that to sell it. Let me remind you that we were casually home shopping so our house was not ready to list! We pulled a couple sleepless nights to get our house ready to list. It was listed over the weekend, and a few offers came in on our home! (For over double what we purchased it for!)
So much love has gone into this home. My emotions have been all over the place with excitement and sadness. I think it might feel different if we would have hired work for all of our renovations, but Brett did every single thing by hand! I wish I would have started documenting all of our home updates from the start because it looks like a completely different home compared to when we bought it in 2012. One of the first projects Brett completed was replacing the tile and carpet with laminate flooring downstairs with his dad. Not too long after that his dad passed away very unexpectedly. I wish his dad could see all of the incredible things he has learned to do since then. That’s the thing about a home: it is the constant as you endure the hard times and celebrate the good times. When we closed on this house, we had only been married for 3 weeks! It is amazing to look back on the past 6 years to see all of the special times we have had, such as bringing our two babies home. One thing is for sure… we are going to miss that cute little home.
Some of our favorite home projects:
Closet Makeover (went viral on Pinterest!)
Turned a closet into an amazing office
Our dining room turned playroom
The New Home
Let’s talk about the new home! It is about 10 minutes from where we currently live. We close on the new house today (wooh!) and moving day is tomorrow. We have been packing up our home and have had some very late nights getting everything ready to go. (Shoutout to our friends who have helped us pack the last few days!) The new house is basically a one story with everything on the first story and a large game room with a balcony on the second level. It has a beautiful back yard with a pool and spa, and the neighborhood is SO cute. We will be updating the inside of the home and have been going to town on Pinterest planning everything out. We will be putting in floor to ceiling sliders, replacing the flooring with a walnut color, changing the kitchen cabinets and island, and eventually creating me a dreamy office/closet space. I can’t wait to take you guys along and document all of the renovations with before and afters here on the blog. I have to remember that these things take time, as much as I would love to have everything done at once. In the mean time, I will be sharing moving behind the scenes on my Instagram stories!
Hope you all have a great week!
Congrats to your move! Best wishes.
