For most of us, a new year means new goals and new resolutions. Of course I have my business and fitness goals for the year, but this year I have a new type of resolution on my list. These require zero hard work, but I can almost guarantee that it will make my year even better than the last.
2016 was an incredible year. The birth of Michael completely changed our world for the better, and he was definitely the highlight of a year we will never forget. All of the sudden I was a stay at home mom, which comes with a lot of changes. Drive thru’s have never seemed so tempting in my life, I went from barely being home to being home all day, and my alone time seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change being a mom for anything, but there were a few times during the year when I thought to myself “somethings gotta change.”
2 New Year Resolutions You Need On Your List:
New Resolution Number 1: Schedule out more “me” time. Whether it’s a girls night, lunch with a friend, shopping by myself, a bath in silence, or a nail appointment, I need a little more of it. A few months ago I was having one of those moments where I was feeling like ALL I ever do is change diapers and feed Michael. I literally told Brett all I wanted for my birthday was a quiet hotel room by myself. (They ended up coming with me and it was a blast. 😉 )
I found myself complaining to Brett about this trapped feeling I was having and he simply said “well why don’t you plan more things?” I was the only one preventing myself from doing more things. It’s that simple! It’s OKAY to be selfish every once in a while. So here’s to more nail appointments, more girls nights, and more me time this year and less complaining about it!
Resolution # 2: Date night once a month. Sometimes it can be so much easier to take the baby with us rather than scheduling out date nights. We’ve done so many fun things together as a family, but I can count on one hand how many date nights we’ve had just the two of us last year. There’s no need to wait for a special occasion to go on a date night. I’m really looking forward to this one!
I hope your new year is off to a great start. It’s not too late to add these 2 resolutions to your new year resolutions!
Sometimes it feels nearly impossible to get myself to wear anything other than black in the winter. You just can’t go wrong with black, but sometimes it’s nice to soften it up. I love this pretty winter color palette. I’ve linked to my outfit details below.
Cheers to 2017!
