Yesterday I was able to attend Ride On For Red Nose Day, powered by Walgreens. You may have seen a few posts on my social media accounts during the event. Well, I had many people asking questions like “what is red nose day?” and “why are you wearing red noses?”
Yesterday we watched cyclists arrive from a 4 day, 400 mile journey. They started out in Santa Barbara, CA and rode all the way to Las Vegas! We were able to cheer them on as they rode into town for an amazing cause. What is red nose day? The money Red Nose Day raises supports projects that ensure kids are safe, healthy, educated, and empowered.
They were all smiles as they finished up their long ride. We may not all be able to ride an impressive 400 miles, however there are simple ways that we can help too! Red Nose Day is May 25. Every Red Nose purchase helps to end child poverty, one nose at a time. You can stop at your local Walgreens to purchase your red nose.
I brought Michael along to the event, and I couldn’t help but think how blessed we are. As I was listening to the speakers talk, it really hit me hard hearing about how a small $10 donation can literally save a child’s life. Between meals, life saving vaccination, medical services, and safe places to live, I think it’s safe to say many of us (myself included) take these things for granted.
As I mentioned, we listened to a few cyclists and other speakers talk about the impact of Red Nose Day and stories about their 4 day journey. These cyclists are incredible! I had the chance to speak to a few of them, and I’m pretty sure they had more energy than I did, even after a 400 mile ride. They really inspired me to be more proactive about ways that I can help.
We will be wearing our Red Noses on May 25. How about you? Click here to donate or find your nearest Walgreens.
